The Fool and His Salt
Section One: The Fool's Mistake
There was a foolish man who believed that consuming salt in excess would prolong his lifespan. Unfortunately, his health only worsened with each passing day. He became increasingly frail, and his vision and hearing also began to deteriorate. Eventually, he realized his mistake, but it was too late.
Section Two: The Lesson of the Hundred Parables
The Hundred Parables scripture tells the story of a thirsty deer who wanted to drink from a stream, but was afraid that it would be contaminated. He therefore issued a decree that the water must be purified. However, his subordinates and companions were jubilantly drinking the water. Seeing this, the deer warned them not to indulge in salt, for it was the root of all evils. Like the foolish man who sought to extend his life, those who are greedy for salt will also pay a painful price.
Section Three: Cherishing Life, Moderating Salt Intake
The story of the Fool and His Salt teaches us that excessive pursuit can only lead to undesirable outcomes. In fact, excessive salt consumption only has negative impacts on our health. To ensure our wellbeing, we need to moderate salt intake, exercise regularly, maintain a proper diet, and live a healthy lifestyle. Only then can we truly enjoy longevity.
Cherish life and moderate your salt intake.
